About Orp

Bildschirmfoto 2017-11-03 um 16.57.42.pngSince its formation in 2017, the duo Orp has been creating expansive sound textures situated somewhere in the intersection of electroacoustic improvisation, ambient, and drone, without clearly belonging to a specific genre. Based on electric cello and electric guitar, manipulated and multiplied through a large number of effect devices, they generate musical energy that at times sound as massive as if they were directly emanating from a power plant, and at other times as fragile as if they were floating in the air like single snow crystals.

“[Our sound] is less music than it is aural energy patterns which move the air around you in ways that allow you to pick up this energy with your ears. If it occasionally sounds like a power plant, that’s because that’s exactly what it is.”

OR is Mig O'Rourke, who plays electric cello, electric guitar, muurni khuur and theremin. P is Horst Prillinger, who plays electric guitar, electric bass, electric piano, electric sitar and percussion.
