Café Frame Concert Available as Download

a3507035330_10.jpgIf you're sad because you missed our concert at Café Frame on June 3rd, 2023, don't despair, for we've decided to make it available as a digital download through our Bandcamp page. That evening, we played some tracks from our most recent album "OOO" as well as early previews of our next project. The concert is presented pretty much as it was performed, with no overdubs; only a few sections with technical issues had to be edited out.

We regard this as an "official bootleg". Due to the lack of a PA and sound board, we recorded this with a portable recorder that was placed about 6ft away from our amps. It picked up our music in decent stereo, but also contains the occasional audience noise. Please do not expect pristine sound quality.

The recording will be available from June 9th, 2023 until January 8th, 2024 exclusively on Bandcamp.

Track titles:

  1. "Takeoff, Layers of Dust > Chimes Immersed in Lava"
  2. "Late Evening She Drinks Cocoa and Reads Short Stories by Raymond Carver"
  3. "Bird-o-tron"
  4. "Frog-a-thon"
  5. "Goodnight"
  6. "Confluence"

The total running time of this album is approx. 74 minutes.

New album "OOO" coming soon

CSM-ooo-front.png

Our new album will be available on audio CD and through all major streaming and download sites on December 2nd, 2022.

The title of this album is spelled OOO, which means it can be pronounced "oh-oh-oh", "oooh", "out of office", "hugs", or "the weird 6th album". Choose whichever suits your personal needs.

The musicians on this album appear to be the same people that made the previous album, but they've been through a pandemic, a world in which politics and the climate are going haywire, and personal loss.

The music on this album is not a conscious reaction to the world in which it was created, but who knows what drives our subconscious when we make music.

We have been told that this album is darker than the previous one, but in truth it's only more abstract. OOO is less music than it is aural energy patterns which move the air around you in ways that allow you to pick up this energy with your ears. If it occasionally sounds like a power plant, it's because that's exactly what it is.

Since we formed Orp, we have been meeting and making music on an almost weekly basis. The six tracks on this album have been selected from 79 tracks that were recorded in 23 sessions between December 2021 and September 2022. They were edited, remixed and mastered in October and November 2022.

CDs will be available in a limited edition of 100 and can be pre-ordered through our Bandcamp page. We expect them to ship in late November/early December.

Track titles:

  2. "Chimes Immersed in Lava"

Unless We Sleep, We Can Hear the Tide Coming In

Our new album will be available on audio CD and through all major streaming and download sites on July 10th, 2020.

Come, see real
flowers
of this painful world.
--Bashō (1644-1694)

"Unless We Sleep..." emerged from a number of recording sessions that took place between July 2019 and May 2020. It was a time of exploration and experimentation, of moving further away from the sound that had characterized our first albums. More stretched out, more meditative, but also more abrasive, these are the soundscapes that have defined the past year for us. Stylistically, the album picks up where "Orp 4" left off: more drone than ambient, these are slow, multi-layered musical textures based entirely on electric guitars and electric cello.

For those of you who love to touch physical objects, we have a very cool-looking CD (limited to 100 copies) in a digipak with photographs by Guatemalan photographer Axel Pimentel, exclusively available on our Bandcamp page. Of course the CD also includes the download for all 7 album tracks. All orders come with our infinite gratitude for supporting our project.

CD orders placed through our Bandcamp page are already shipping now!

Track titles:

  1. "Helicopters Flare" [watch video]
  2. "Assault Rifle"
  3. "Orbiting"
  4. "Golden River"
  5. "Room 36 (Her Ghost)"
  6. "Core Immersion"
  7. "And in Our Darkest Hour"

The total running time of this album is approx. 63 minutes.

Confluence

Orp proudly present "Confluence", a new track that we premiered at our recent concert at the Rhiz. We've made a video for it from super-8 footage that Horst shot in the late 1980s, and there's a 3-track EP with two versions of "Confluence" (a meditative and a psychedelic one) on all major streaming sites and on Bandcamp, where you can also download the tracks in several audio formats.

Track titles:

  1. "Confluence" (33:30)
  2. "Of the Magnificent Sea" (10:05)
  3. "Confluence (Alternate Version)" (29:17)
